Wise words
|
Our third week was really practical. We visited different
communities in Masaka and around it.
We had also two days work in office for developing a training module for schools and farmers. Also we decided to make a fundraise for solar dryer. With a solar dryer, at least 10 farmers can dry their pineapples and mango´s. They can export these dry fruits and increase their income. Maybe in the future also enlarge their farm and hire new workers and develop their community.
Firstly, we visited community in Kyanamukaka, where we observed
coffee farms. We monitored their strategies of agroforestry and plantation. Also,
we visited one construction, where local private companies are planning to
process and store their harvest. These farmers would like to start producing
organic coffee and other crops. For this reason, we got a bit information about their pesticides,
which they are normally using. Since now, these are not organic yet.

We visited Rina Primary School to observe their garden,
because in few weeks we are going to plan a garden with vegetables for them. We asked teachers and director, which plants they
wish to see in their garden. Also, we met with their all students, who had prepared

The result of the day |
Our day was successful! We created their garden with one day. Students from environment club were supporting us with their help. After few weeks we plan to go to see this garden again and look how these plants are growing.
