Lake Mburo National Park |
On our eighth week in Uganda, we truly had unforgettable trip. We went to SAFARI, which was really amazing. First day we went to Lake Mburo national park. We saw many wild animals - giraffe, hippo, buffalo, zebra. In addition, we saw many beautiful birds, which names I could not remember anymore. Uganda Wildlife Authority is managing this national park. This national park is the right place to see in Uganda. It really shows that Uganda is the pearl of Africa.

During our SAFARI, we stayed on the roof of the vehicle. This was an unique experience and full of fun. This was really special experience - to see all these animals so closely and at the same time to smell all these smells they had there (trees, plants, fresh air, mud).
To visit a national park in Uganda is not like visiting a zoo...You can have an opportunity to be a part of the wild nature.

In natural parks, animals are free to move to where ever they wish to go. So, it is really important to always keep attention and not to move in forbidden places.
We made a stop nearby a wide tea production. We observed the magical view, landscape and we even saw how farmers are harvesting tea.

After our journey in Lake Mburo National Park, we had a community visit to the primary school close to the Queen Elizabeth National Park.We observed their challenges with hygiene and sanitation.
Also, we met with all teachers and students, who had prepared us a really lovely performance. They danced and sang to us.We listened their stories about challenges of being a parent and facing difficulties with paying school fees.
We got a brief overview about the education system in this school and also their strategy for next few years.
Teachers and the headmaster were so motivated to improve local community with education and to educate children as much as possible. This all visit was so inspiring and motivating.

On the second day, we had a wonderful SAFARI in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. We saw many animals such as elephant, lion, zebra, hippo.
Again we traveled on the roof of the vehicle. We were sitting there, when we saw 2 lion lying down next to the rock.
It was really interesting to observe how lions are able to live in peace with other animals without having any borders between each other.

On our third day, we had a cruise in Kazinga channel. This trip lasted 2 hours and we saw buffalos, crocodile, hippos and other animals on our way. It was definitely an unique opportunity to see the community living inside a national park. This community is earning income mainly with fishing.

We had a stop in front of the sign - Uganda Equator. It was a great surprise to me, because I actually did not expect it. We enjoyed our time there and of course we took a mandatory picture.

After all of it, we went to Rwenzori Mountains, which are known for their vegetation, ranging from tropical rainforest through alpine meadows to snow. The Rwenzori Mountains reach heights up to 5,109 metres.
We went to hike there. We reached to 2300 metre and after that we returned. It was quite challenging. I personally fell 4 times. It was really interesting to see that farmers are dealing with agriculture even on the mountains.

We also went to chimpanzee tracking. It was so nice to observe them in one place around 1 hour. I really enjoyed the walk in the forest. It was really amazing activity. We heard the sound they are making and saw them jumping from one tree to another tree. We were introduced the food what they are usually eating. It was such amazing experience.

After chimpanzee tracking we visited hot springs. The water was so hot there that some people were even making tea. Many of them were washing themselves with a soap there. For bathing the water was around 40 degree.
