Uganda - Sixth week

Kalangala

Kalangala
Our sixth week was quite intensive. We visited Kalangala, which is a town in a central region of Uganda. We observed the life of local people there and at the same time we celebrated my birthday.

Kalangala is on the northern shore of Bugala island, the largest of the Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria.

We ate our breakfast in a local restaurant near to Masaka. We ate a delicious Rolex with sweet banana. After we took a local taxi/matatu to port and we went to Kalangala island by ferry. We arrived to our hostel 8 hours later after we had started our journey, because here in Uganda vehicle must be full before it starts to move. We had to wait around 4 hours before our transportation took off. We were lucky, because the ferry that we suppose to catch was also late. So, it was really lucky trip.

2 days we observed local community in the place called Kalangala. We explored the magical beach and mysterious parks. We saw a real beauty of Uganda - the pearl of Africa.

After my birthday in Kalangala, we had a really intensive program with pineapple farmers in Buwunga, near to Masaka. We shared our knowledge about agroforestry and advised them about organic methods to keep pests away from plants.
